WayRay, the leading developer of holographic AR navigation systems for cars, is seeking talented and ambitious individuals who are eager to contribute to the creation of a product that will alter existing conceptions of navigation.

The software development department is now devising the intellectual component of WayRay's product line. We develop the system core enabling the company's products to fill the world around us with virtual objects. The teams of 3D graphics, computer vision, system integration, and others are involved in this work. We develop algorithms that solve the issues of accurate positioning, recognition of surrounding objects and fitting virtual objects into the environment. All these are carefully combined in the AR navigator to make the driving process safe and exciting. Here we face regular challenges and look for team players who are eager to deal with difficulties.
We are looking for a developer with strong mathematical skills and experience in navigation, state estimation and sensor fusion algorithms. Your responsibility will be to further improve our advanced navigation algorithm and bring it to the production quality.
Primary tasks
- Development of position and attitude estimation algorithms for ground vehicles based on GNSS, IMU, camera, and vehicle speed data
- Development of tools for algorithm testing, verification, and tuning
- Extensive testing of algorithms on synthetic and actual data
Expected results
- Develop an algorithm to detect failures of individual sensors and the navigation filter
- Improve the navigation algorithm
- Improve attitude estimation
- Enhance the algorithm to work robustly without wheel sensor data
- Long term tasks
- Implement advanced GNSS processing algorithm using correction service: PPP, PPP-RTK
- Investigate and test alternative estimation approaches (UKF, sliding window batch optimization, graph-based optimization, etc.). Implement if it outperforms the current approach
Required knowledge and skills
- Knowledge and practical experience in one of the areas: inertial navigation, GNSS positioning, robot localization
- Good understanding and practical experience of Kalman filter design for state estimation problems
- Solid knowledge of C++ and Python (including STL, numpy, scipy, pandas, matplotlib)
- Basic knowledge of Computer Science: understanding of data structures, asymptotic complexity, ability to design simple algorithms
Bonus skills
- Experience in the development of industry-grade navigation/ localization devices or technologies
- Detailed knowledge of IMU and GNSS working principles
- Familiarity with modern practices of software development: git, TDD, CI/CD, etc.
