Welcome to join our Advanced Computing Group. In various industries such as telecommunications, logistics and manufacturing etc., mathematical optimization has grown to be a pivotal capability. The key challenges are brought about by large scale combinatorial optimization problems with constraints that arise naturally from business use cases. The difficulty lies in not only solving for near optimal solutions, but also having to complete the required computation within a limited time period. The main responsibility of this group is to conduct research and development on cutting-edge computing technologies for solving these problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Deep dive and understand the combinatorial optimization problems that arise from business scenarios and abstract the problems into mathematical models
- Keep track of academic advances and industry trends; develop related marketing insights to help clearly define and position our own offerings
- Participate in the architecture of the solver framework, in order that the framework may support various business scenario’s mathematical optimization requirements, involving solver development, architectural design, testing and outreaching
- Work closely with the product lines and related teams, so as to ensure algorithm adoption by the product lines, solving the product line challenges and elevating product performances
Required Qualifications
- PhD degree in Math, Physics, Computer science etc. OR Master/Bachelor degree with rich R&D experiences in related topics
- Strong foundation in mathematical optimization, in particular combinatorial optimization problems such as integer programming and Ising model, with hands-on experience solving large scale combinatorial optimization problems
- Skilled in at least one of the programming languages: Python or C++
- Ability to do scientific/engineering research both as a team player and as an individual contributor, and quick learning capability
Absolutely necessary skills (at least one item)
- Deep knowledge of combinatorial optimization/operational research methods and their applications
- Experience in mathematical modeling of mathematical optimization problems arising from real life business scenarios and use cases
- Proficiency in combinatorial optimization solvers, such as Gurobi, Cplex and Metis etc. Proficiency in modeling tools such as OR-Tools, OPL and AMPL
- Experience in a complete life cycle mathematical optimization project, from business problem abstraction, modeling, obtaining a solution, validation, deployment and maintenance
Important skills that will be considered as a plus
- Knowledge of following methods: Simulated Coherent Ising Machine, Simulated Bifurcation, Near Mean-Field Algorithm
- Excellent scientific publication record
- Participation in international standards organization
- International competition award winner
- Fluent English, excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work in an international, diversified, cross-domain team environment
- The willingness and ability to travel are required
